W Johnstone & Sons Ltd
is a 4th generation run, local business serving the Dumfries & Galloway region for over 100 years.
William Johnstone started the business as a vehicle repairs, fuel and electrical engineers, initially in St Johns Town of Dalry in 1922, later moving to new larger premises in Crocketford in 1936 where they are based to this day.
After the move, William’s son Eric took control and continued the business from Crocketford. With the decline of the fuel business, plumbing gradually became the more prominent aspect of their work, with the business then gradually being taken over by Eric’s son Mark. The garage repairs then ceased and plumbing & heating became the mainstay of the business. Mark was in control and then started to bring in two of his sons to work. The business continued to grow. With Ben starting up his own business, Jack took over the reigns of W.Johnstone & Sons in 2022 and the business continues to flourish.

W Johnstone & Sons Ltd currently employ 10 tradesmen and apprentices with an administrative team of three. They employ local men, some of whom have been with the company for many years.
